Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 1, 2026

Spendly is built to be private by design. Your financial data is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to us or any third party.

The short version

  • We do not collect, store, or transmit your statements or transactions.
  • All data lives in a local database on your device.
  • Importing and categorizing run on-device — no cloud processing.
  • We have no servers that hold your financial data, and no account is required.
  • You can delete any statement, or all of your data, at any time from within the app.

Information we process

When you import a statement, Spendly processes the file you provide (PDF, image, or CSV) and the transaction details it contains — such as merchant names, dates, amounts, and the categories you assign. This processing happens locally on your device.

The resulting data — transactions, merchant rules, app settings, and chart presets — is stored in a local database on your device. It is not uploaded, synced, or backed up to us.

On-device processing

Spendly uses an on-device model to detect statement layouts and suggest transaction categories. This runs locally; the contents of your statements are not sent to an external service for this analysis.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, or device identifiers for tracking. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that profile you. Because there is no account and no backend for your data, we have no copy of your financial information.

Permissions

Spendly may ask for access to files or photos so you can select statements to import. These permissions are used only to read the file you choose, at the moment you choose it.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data. Since your data does not leave your device, there is nothing for us to share. Anything you choose to export or share (for example, sending a file to another app) is under your control.

Data retention and deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You can remove an individual uploaded statement, or erase everything with “Delete all data” in Settings. Uninstalling the app also removes its local data from your device.

Children's privacy

Spendly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above.
