Frequently asked questions

Which file types can I import?

Spendly imports credit card statements as PDF, image (photo or screenshot), and CSV files. CSV imports support both English and Turkish column headers.

Where is my data stored?

Everything stays on your device in a local database. Your statements, transactions, and rules are never uploaded to a server.

How are transactions categorized?

Spendly first checks your saved merchant rules, then uses an on-device model to classify anything new, and finally lets you review and correct. Your corrections are saved as rules and reused next time.

A transaction was categorized incorrectly. What do I do?

Open the transaction in the review or transactions list and change its category. Spendly saves that as a merchant rule so the same merchant is categorized correctly going forward.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete an individual uploaded statement, or remove everything at once with “Delete all data” in Settings. Deletion is permanent and immediate.

Does Spendly work without an internet connection?

Yes. Spendly is offline-first — importing, classifying, and analyzing all run locally, so you can use it with no connection.

Troubleshooting

An import didn't parse correctly

Scanned or photographed statements depend on image quality. Make sure the statement is well-lit, in focus, and not cropped. If a PDF still doesn't parse, try exporting it as CSV from your bank if that option is available.

The app feels slow during import

Classification runs on your device, so the first import after launch can take a moment while the model loads. Subsequent imports are faster.
